I love Words

I love words.  I love big words, poetic words, powerful words, interesting combinations of words and, of course, swear words.  I’m careful with the words I choose to think and choosy with the words I speak.  Except in traffic.  I believe words shape our thoughts, inspire us, comfort us, unite us and transport us.  And lately, they even clothe us.

I have wholeheartedly jumped on board with the trend of wearing words.  I recently left the house in my “THANKFUL” t-shirt, my “LOVE” and “PEACE” cuffs (Wonder Woman style) and my “BE NOT AFRAID YOU WERE BORN FOR THIS" necklace (a gift from a dear friend) wondering if I should grab my “SPIRITUAL GANGSTER” pull-over for later.  It's not often I need to take a step back to literally edit my look. 

The idea of wearing words is certainly not new.  Who among us doesn't have a sports, college or vacation t-shirt somewhere in the house?   My husband went to Notre Dame and my Notre Dame t-shirt is just as effective as lingerie when I feel like being provocative.  Wearing words or logos or brands helps us express to others what we're about, and that may never go out of style.  My Spiritual Gangster sweatshirt might, though. 

And who doesn't love words on jewelry?   If you are a mother, there is a 87% chance you own a tiny circle charm stamped with the first letter of your child’s name in lower case typewriter font.  It has become a rite of passage for sleepy new mothers everywhere to shop for the perfect piece of engraved jewelry that proves beyond a medical certainty they are a mother.  I have a drawer full.

Spiritual Gangster:  Cute “workout” stuff.  I wear workout stuff as actual clothes, but you can workout in them and the messages are lovely.
